It feels...strange. Nier had spent nearly half of his life caring for others, but now that he's the one being cared for, it's something has has to get use too.]
[It had been so long since he was able to calm down that he had almost forgotten how nice it felt to have someone who genuinely loves him try and look after him - especially now that he's pregnant and no longer able to hide his secondary gender.
Becoming the breadwinner of the household at the tender age of 11 was hard enough as it was, but adding his gender into the mix made things infinitely more difficult. Adding to that, Yonah was barely 2 when their mother had died leaving Nier as the only real parental figure in her life.
So he was grateful towards Nanami for providing food and a roof over their heads, even if it felt a little odd for him to depend of some else for a change.]
[Unfortunately, Nier never truly felt the same romantic feelings Nanami had towards him, leaving him feeling like he was taking advantage of the man's emotions for personal gain. And now that they have a kid on the way, breaking off their relationship would be an utterly disastrous move since he and Yonah have no support network outside of Nanami.]
[But he tries to push all of that towards the back of his mind for now, and continue on with his breakfast.]

[ Nanami can't lie, it is hard to be in a relationship and have a child on the way when he knows Nier doesn't love him. In his more depressed moments, he wonders if he's letting himself be taken advantage of because he was fine with it if Nier didn't want the child but Nier said he did and so... they kept it. But he always wonders the motivations there, if Nier didn't love him, why did he want a child with him? He still doesn't have an answer.
Even his shows of affection get a response of surprise and confusion rather than affection in return. Like now. Nanami tries not to look back at Nier after he gives him the kiss because he knows he'll just see surprise on his face and nothing else. He's not sure he can handle that right now.
So, he goes back to sitting at his breakfast and continuing to eat, letting the quiet spill over them again. ]
