Name: Nanami Kento
Canon: Jujutsu Kaisen
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Appearance: Here
Canon point: Post-Death

History: Here

Personality answers:

1. Explain which event in canon is most pivotal to your character's development, and who they are today.
The most pivotal moment of Nanami's life is the death of his classmate and friend, Haibara Yu. They were both first years together at Jujutsu High and, considering there weren't any other students shown, likely the only first years of their year. It meant that Nanami was paired with Haibara on missions as they developed together as sorcerers and it meant that when Haibara was killed by a curse, Nanami was there to witness it.

This reshaped how Nanami viewed sorcery immensely, amplifying his doubts about what they do and the cruelty of the life they lead. It caused him to doubt jujutsu society so immensely that when he graduated from Jujutsu High, he quit being a sorcerer and left to be part of the normal world. Even when he returned to sorcery, his belief that the life they live is cruel to children and unforgivable is still prominent — all from seeing the senseless violence that took Haibara's life in the first place.

He'll never forgive the higher ups for allowing his friend to die, will never see what they do as anything more than being lambs for the slaughter, but he also does believe in the merit of being a sorcerer as well — of being able to help people. That's what keeps him going, despite his misgivings about the rest of their society.
2. What does your character think about physical appearances? Are they the sort to meticulously primp themselves, or could they not care less?
Nanami is a bit of a contradiction when it comes to physical appearances. If asked, he'd say he does not care about anyone's physical appearance and how people dress and carry themselves is their own business. If asked about his own appearance, he'd say he doesn't give much thought to it either. Yet, he still puts in an incredible amount of effort into his appearance and how he dresses — wearing suits regularly and keeping himself orderly and put together. This is because he believes in the idea of being dressed for work and he sees the work he does as a sorcerer as equivalent to the work he did when he was a corporate salaryman.

Part of this is likely his own need for distinction between the different parts of his life. Being a sorcerer is work. When he is off the clock, he can change into something else and be properly off the clock. There is no dress code to being a sorcerer but for Nanami, that distinction is important. If he is in his suit, he is at work. If he is not in his suit, he is not at work. Thus, he can keep the separation clear for himself. This is just one of the many ways Nanami's strict boundaries manifest in his life.
3. What is your character's biggest ambition at their current canon point? To what lengths would they go to see it to fruition?
Nanami's biggest ambition at this point in his life is to have no ambition. At his canon point, he is dead and part of his acceptance of his death was to admit that he was tired and that he no longer wants to be a sorcerer, that he no longer wants to work this brutal grind that took over so much of his life. He wants to retire, to visit a beach, to rest, and that is all he wants. But he knew that wasn't in the cards for him as a sorcerer and so he made his peace with his death as he fought his last battle and resigned himself to a brutal death when Mahito caught him.

Being in Karteria will be a challenge for him of instincts, the instinct to be involved and proactive and to help people versus his deep desire for rest and to no longer put the responsibility of the world on his shoulders. How he'll see his ambition for no ambition come to fruition will be his biggest challenge. Nanami is someone who desires rest and relaxation but very rarely allows himself to have it. He has a strict boundary between his work and life and does take breaks when needed, but it's still a challenge for him to leave behind the life of sorcery and to let go of any ambition he has around it.
4. What would it take to truly upset your character, enough that they would act upon their feelings? Are they the sort to forgive?
Nanami is a man who internalizes a lot of his feelings, rarely expressing them. The type of events to truly upset him and cause him to act are those that deeply effect other people. When Ijichi is nearly killed during the Shibuya Arc, Nanami feels the weight of all his resentment towards jujutsu society bear down on him and he takes it out on Shigemo, killing him multiple times through just brutal punches alone which Shigemo only survives by nature of his cursed technique. This proves there is deep feeling within Nanami that he buries down and compartmentalizes in order to do what needs to be done.

Yet some of the most pivotal moments in his life include making decisions in response to someone else being hurt or suffering. He returned to jujutsu society because of an interaction with a baker who was suffering as a result of a curse. He killed Shigemo because of the way he nearly killed Ijichi who was just a bystander to the events occurring. And then, of course, when he quit jujutsu society it was in reaction to Haibara's death. What makes him act, in all of these situations, is the suffering of another person. Nanami buries down his feelings and will only let them come out when it is in service to someone else. Which also means while he might forgive someone for their actions, he is certainly not the type to forget.
Inventory:

1. Nanami's Cursed Tool — Essentially a blunt sword wrapped in cloth. Nothing special about it beyond the fact that it's what he channels his cursed energy into.
2. Nanami's Sunglasses
3. Nanami's Watch
4. Spare / Backup Version of Nanami's Suit

Powers/Abilities:
Cursed Energy: The main source of power for sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen. It's a harnessing of spiritual energy that stems from human's negative emotions. Nanami is quite skilled at the manipulation of cursed energy, able to track it through sight alone and to shift his own cursed energy within his body to protect himself out of pure instinct.

Back Flash: A technique in which cursed energy is applied within 0.000001 seconds of a physical hit and the cursed energy flashes back, amplifying the sorcerer's power. Nanami achieved a record of doing this four times in a row, only beaten out by Itadori Yuji.

Ratio Technique: Nanami's main skill. It divides the target (be it a living beings or non-living objects) into ten lines and forces a weak spot at the 7 to 3 ratio spot. If Nanami hits the weak spot, he does incredible damage, sometimes cleaving weaker targets into two or destroying a structure completely.

Overtime: Nanami's Binding Vow. It limits his cursed energy while he's on the clock for Jujutsu High, but when he moves past his allotted hours into "overtime" — his cursed energy swells to an extreme amount.

Revealing One's Hand: Another Binding Vow Nanami has taken in which if he reveals his abilities to his opponent, his cursed energy strength for his next attack is increased.

Grade One Sorcerer: Nanami is the prime example of a Grade One Sorcerer. He is an incredibly great tactician when it comes to fighting, both curses and not. His deductive reasoning also helps him immensely when it comes to tracking down curses and surviving encounters with enemies, both those stronger than him and not. He is both highly intelligent and battle honed from years of practice which makes him a formidable opponent.

Skilled Swordsman: Nanami uses a sword in his fights against curses and has shown to prefer blades as his weapon of choice.

Skilled Hand-to-Hand Fighter: Nanami is also incredibly skilled fighter and has shown prowess in hand to hand fights against enemies, overwhelming them easily.

Increased Durability: Nanami is incredibly solid, hard to knock down, and can survive even the hardest blows. He survived half of his body being set on fire and burned to a crisp, even managing to fight a horde of curses afterwards before being caught by Mahito and killed. His durability is near superhuman.
Samples: TDM Top Level — Specifically highlighting Thread with Itadori Yuji (for introspection) and Thread with Gojo Satoru (for dialogue).

Player Goals: My main two goals are to 1) work through Nanami's trauma regarding jujutsu sorcery and its impact on his life and 2) have him acknowledge and appreciate the relationships in his life that shaped him beyond his arbitrary assigning them "senpai" or "protege" and into something a bit more concrete like "friend" or "family. These are both long term goals that will take a while and I think the backdrop of him in a monster transformation game while navigating his post-death thoughts and feelings will make for very interesting rp.

Soul Choice: Carnivora. He's gonna be a wolf. 🐺
